Vacation Bible School 2024 held August 12-15 from 4:30 - 7:30. We traveled back in time to Hometown Nazareth, where Jesus was a kid. Our storyteller was Mary, the mother of Jesus, the games were games that Jesus would have played as a boy, and instead of crafts, we had a “marketplace” where the children learned to make butter, grind herbs for a body scrub, how their names were written in Hebrew (thanks to Pastor Carl), tie dye, and many other activities of the time. On the last day, we had a petting zoo in the church yard, which was a huge success. The kitchen crew again did a fabulous job of serving nutritious meals that the kids enjoy. We had an average of 43 children in attendance, seven more than last year. We had many great helpers: 17 adult and 10 youth helpers, plus the kitchen crew of 6-8 people. We again had Thrivent Grants to purchase curriculum, materials, and food, and received enough T-shirts for all participants to tie-dye. We were also able to give each family a CD of the music, music being a highlight of VBS. We collected $291.30 for clean water in Nicaragua. Following the week, the crew leaders sent notes to the kids, expressing how great it was that they attended, and inviting them to Sunday school. It was a wonderful time! Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen! See 2024 VBS photos below.
