Vacation Bible School 2026 was held August 9-13, beginning with a pancake breakfast and VBS themed church service on Sunday, the 9th. We traveled back in time to ancient Rome, where Paul was imprisoned because of his radical “One God” belief and teaching. The children visited Paul in prison, and then visited the Underground Church to experience what early Christians went through to worship in secret so they wouldn’t be persecuted. Paul was guarded by the Roman guard, Brutus, who brought the story alive through skits at the beginning of each VBS day.
As usual, we ate great suppers, sang energetic songs, played fun games, and visited the Marketplace, where we learned about customs and food of ancient Rome. We had root beer and orange floats on our last night to celebrate our fun week.
There were 30 children in attendance, as well as many adult and youth helpers. The children tied 9 polar fleece blankets for area children in need. We collected $311 that will go to Lutheran World Relief for Children in Crisis. We again had Thrivent Grants to purchase curriculum, materials, and food, as well as a CD/streaming card of the music for each family.
